Effective immediately
1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using this Site, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be legally bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use this Site. We reserve the right to modify or amend these Terms at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of those changes.

2. Description of Services

Through this Site, Metropol provides:

  • Information about, and registration for, conventions, conferences, and trainings (“Events”) on credit markets, financial services, and related topics
  • Sponsorship opportunities for organisations wishing to partner on an Event
  • Event materials, programmes, agendas, and related resources
  • Information on venues and accommodation options for physical Events
3. Registration and Accounts

3.1 You may browse the Site without registering. To register for an Event or submit a sponsorship enquiry, you will be asked to provide certain information (e.g. name, organisation, contact details).

3.2 You agree to provide true, accurate, and complete information when registering, and to keep it up to date.

3.3 Where the Site requires an account or login (e.g. for delegate or admin access), you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your credentials and for all activity under your account. Notify us immediately of any unauthorised use.

3.4 We reserve the right to suspend or terminate any registration or account we reasonably determine to be in violation of these Terms.

4. Delegate Registration for Events

4.1 Registration for an Event is confirmed only upon receipt of full payment (where a fee applies) and our written confirmation.

4.2 Places may be limited and allocated at our discretion, including by relevance to the Event’s target audience. We reserve the right to decline, cancel, or transfer a registration where information provided is false, where an Event is fully subscribed, or where attendance would be inconsistent with the Event’s purpose.

4.3 It is your responsibility to ensure your registration details are correct, as they may be used for badges, certificates, and delegate lists.

5. Sponsorship

5.1 Sponsorship packages advertised on the Site (e.g. Title, Platinum, Diamond, Gold, Silver, or bespoke packages) are subject to availability and confirmed only upon our written acceptance and, where applicable, execution of a separate sponsorship agreement or invoice.

5.2 Submitting a sponsorship enquiry does not guarantee allocation of a package or its associated benefits. We aim to respond within two business days but do not guarantee this timeframe.

5.3 Sponsor branding and materials will be used only for the agreed Event and in the manner agreed with the sponsor.

6. Online Payments

Where the Site allows you to pay a registration fee, sponsorship invoice, or other paid service, the following applies:

  • Full payment is required at the time of purchase unless otherwise specified. Accepted payment methods are indicated at checkout.
  • You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your purchase; applicable tax (e.g. VAT) will be displayed at checkout where relevant.
  • All purchases are final. We do not provide refunds except as set out in Section 7 (Cancellations, Refunds, and Transfers) below or as required by law.
  • We use third-party payment processors to handle payments and do not directly collect or store full payment card details. You may be required to accept that processor’s own terms of service.
  • Prices are subject to change at any time; confirmed registrations are not affected by later price changes.
  • You are responsible for providing accurate billing information (name, organisation, address, payment details) and authorise us to charge your chosen payment method for the total amount due, including applicable taxes and fees.
  • If payment fails or cannot be processed, we reserve the right to cancel or suspend your registration or access to paid content.
7. Invoicing Policy

7.1 Invoice requests: Invoices are generated automatically for completed purchases. You may request a separate invoice by contacting events@metropol.co.ke with the necessary details. Requesting an invoice does not exempt you from the applicable payment terms.

7.2 Accuracy of information: It is your responsibility to provide accurate billing information, including billing address, contact details, and any tax/VAT registration numbers. Errors may delay invoicing or payment processing.

7.3 Payment disputes: If you dispute an invoice or charge, notify us promptly at events@metropol.co.ke. We will investigate and work toward a fair resolution. Unless we advise otherwise, payment remains due while a dispute is under review.

7.4 Non-payment: Failure to pay within the specified terms may result in late payment fees, suspension of Event access or sponsorship benefits, and collection efforts. We may pursue legal action to recover outstanding amounts, and you will be responsible for associated reasonable costs.

7.5 Refunds and cancellations: Refunds and cancellations are handled in accordance with Section 7A (Cancellations, Refunds, and Transfers) below.

7.6 We may update this Invoicing Policy at any time; changes take effect upon posting to the Site.

7A. Cancellations, Refunds, and Transfers

7A.1 Cancellation by you: Cancellations received more than 14 days before the Event will be refunded in full, less any processing fee. Cancellations within 14 days of the Event are non-refundable but may be transferred to another attendee from the same organisation.

7A.2 Cancellation or rescheduling by us: We reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or reschedule an Event due to insufficient registrations, speaker unavailability, venue issues, force majeure, or other circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Registered delegates will be offered a full refund (where a fee was paid) or the option to transfer to a rescheduled date.

7A.3 Failure to attend without prior notice does not entitle you to a refund.

8. Venue, Accommodation, and Travel

8.1 Physical Events are also subject to the host venue’s own rules and policies.

8.2 Accommodation options listed on the Site are for delegate convenience. Metropol does not operate these providers and is not responsible for their booking terms, availability, or service standards; any booking is a separate contract between you and that provider.

8.3 Travel, visa, and accommodation costs are your responsibility unless expressly stated otherwise for a specific Event.

9. Prohibited Content and Activities

You agree not to use the Site to:

  • Violate any local, national, or international law or regulation
  • Infringe any intellectual property or other proprietary rights
  • Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code
  • Promote or engage in violence, terrorism, illegal activity, hate speech, or discrimination
  • Disclose private or personal information about others without their consent
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse Site users, delegates, speakers, or staff
  • Misuse the Site, including attempting unauthorised access or scraping content without permission
10. Conduct at Events

10.1 Delegates, sponsors, and guests are expected to behave professionally and respectfully toward staff, speakers, and other attendees.

10.2 We may remove any attendee whose conduct is disruptive, unsafe, or breaches these Terms, without refund.

10.3 Attendees must comply with all venue rules and applicable health and safety instructions.

11. Photos and Videos for Marketing Use

By attending or participating in an Event, you consent to Metropol and its affiliates using photographs and videos taken during the Event for marketing, reporting, and social media purposes, including in promotional materials, on the Site, and on our social media platforms, unless you notify us in advance of the Event that you decline.

12. Intellectual Property Rights

12.1 Content on the Site -including articles, agendas, images, resources, programme materials, and recordings -is protected by copyright and owned by Metropol or its licensors (including speakers and sponsors, as applicable), unless otherwise noted.

12.2 You may not modify, publish, license, create derivative works from, transfer, resell, or otherwise exploit any content or Event Materials without our prior written permission or that of the relevant rights holder. Materials made available to delegates may be used only for personal or internal organisational reference.

12.3 Trademarks and logos displayed on the Site are owned by Metropol or third parties and may not be used without permission.

13. External Links

The Site may link to third-party websites (e.g. accommodation providers, payment processors, social media). These links are provided for convenience only. We do not review, approve, or endorse third-party content, and you access third-party sites at your own risk.

14. Data Protection and Privacy

We process personal data submitted through the Site in accordance with the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019, and our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

15. Disclaimers

THE SITE, EVENTS, AND ALL RELATED CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT GUARANTEE THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE.

16. Limitation of Liability

16.1 TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY KENYAN LAW, METROPOL WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, SPECIAL, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF YOUR USE OF THE SITE OR ATTENDANCE AT AN EVENT, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, BUSINESS, OR OPPORTUNITY.

16.2 Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any liability that cannot be excluded under Kenyan law.

16.3 Our total liability to you in connection with an Event shall not exceed the fees you (or your organisation) paid for that Event.

17. Force Majeure

We are not liable for any failure or delay in performance due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government action, power or internet outages, public health emergencies, or civil unrest.

18. Termination

We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to or use of the Site, your registration, or your account at any time, without notice, where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached. This may result in forfeiture of any content, registration, or access associated with your account at that time.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Kenya. Any dispute arising from these Terms, your use of the Site, or your attendance at or sponsorship of an Event shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation and, if unresolved, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

21. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by posting a notice on the Site prior to the changes taking effect. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
